A Better Life Counseling Services, LLC (ABL)

is a counseling service that provides home-based, intensive counseling (five to ten hours per week-depending on the initial assessment of need) to problem children and adolescents ranging from ages 3-18 who are at risk of out of home placement. In addition, we provide Mental Health Skill-Building services to adults who exhibit a need for training and supports to enable them to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment possible. Also available is outpatient therapy to clients of any age who can benefit from one-on-one or group therapy for a variety of mental health/behavioral issues.

ABL is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and is affiliated with the Roanoke Valley Local Human Rights Committee. We serve our clients mainly in the home or other familiar locations within the community. Counseling is provided for children, adolescents, and adults who demonstrate a clinical need for such services due to mental or emotional stresses which hinder meaningful participation in life endeavors. A Better Life Counseling Services' staff members are Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) with bachelors and masters degrees. They are also insured and have decades of experience working with troubled individuals, age 3 and up, and their families. ABL embraces the cognitive therapeutic approach, working to change clients' perceptions of their life situation as a way to modify behavior.
