About Me
My name is Michael Schweiger and I started ABL Counseling LLC with the mission of helping others truly achieve freedom, healing, and experience abundant living. Throughout our journey negative beliefs and emotions impact how we view ourselves, others, and everyday life. When I work with clients my goal is to help them identify and replace negative thinking with life giving beliefs to reach new levels of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
My years of expertise have come from a variety of environments as a mentor and counselor in mental health and youth organizations, churches, school counseling, and private practice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Prepare-Enrich Certified along with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary.
My approach to counseling is integrative in nature meaning I utilize and combine different approaches to fit the need of each client. A few common approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioral, Emotion-focused, Psychodynamic based therapies, and Christian/Biblical Counseling. Although I work with youth to older adults and couples I have 12 years worth of experience in working with and supporting youth.
My areas of specialty are: trauma, chronic illness, depression/anxiety, faith-based counseling, pornography addiction, and couples. Our sessions will not only focus on your immediate needs and challenges, but equip you with tools to continually overcome challenges after therapy so you can continue to thrive in your everyday life.
The first step to pursue counseling can be intimidating, but it is through knowing ourselves more you find meaning, purpose, and freedom. My commitment is to listen, empathize, ask questions, build you up, share truth, and provide the needed tools to live life abundantly. Are you ready to start living your life to the fullest?
In my free time I enjoy exercising, watching sports, discussing theology, singing, participating in obstacle course runs, going on hikes, spending time with friends and my beautiful wife and kids.
